The Business

Glitter Unique is a business that provides solvent-resistant glitters, effect flakes, pigments as well as supplies to its customers who want to create unique and new trends. The client aimed to increase the performance and sales of their eCommerce store, which offered reliable and superior quality products since 2012. Glitter Unique’s digital store had a wide range of products and categories.

In October 2020, Glitter Unique reached out to the Optimum7 team. They wanted a scalable eCommerce platform and a new storefront. In just a few weeks, we completed the analysis process and got started on the migration project.

The Objective

Our primary objective was to move Glitter Unique’s current eCommerce store to a new platform. Considering our client’s expectations from an eCommerce platform and product and category structure, we decided to migrate the store to BigCommerce.

We set a goal to provide a better online shopping experience to visitors and increase sales directly by improving user experience. That would also make handling customer volume significantly easier. In this way, our client would efficiently add new features and integrations and manage processes regarding the online store.

eCommerce Data Migration

Our developers first compiled all the critical data needed to move to a new BigCommerce storefront. After our checklist was prepared, our developers pulled all data and made sure we didn’t leave anything behind us. That step was important in re-platforming. Besides product and customer data, all written and visual content on the site was seamlessly migrated to the BigCommerce store.

Another critical step in migration processes is preventing damage to SEO performance. With the move to BigCommerce, URLs would change. The pages would have to redirect to the new URLs. Our experienced team specializes in all BigCommerce server settings’ technical details. We implemented 301 redirects.

In addition, we migrated the following items to Glitter Unique’s new store on BigCommerce.

Template Customization

The new eCommerce store must have an up-to-date, modern, and clean design. This design is the first interaction between visitors and the store, and the only chance to build a good first impression. A design aspect has a huge effect on the conversion rate as well as customer experience on the website.

Our design objective was crystal clear: simplicity and ease of use. The client selected a responsive pre-built BigCommerce template. Our team customized it with a color scheme that fits their logo: grey and pink, and key branding elements including top navigation elements, search bar, layout, and content. We also added call-to-actions on the pages that fit the page layout to leverage this key in digital marketing.

Before going live, we optimized the payment and shipping methods, store options, related products, category views, and product display settings.
